We recently opened the doors of our Acland Street display suite to the local community for the first time. We hosted a fun-filled family day that was designed to embrace the best of St Kilda and showcase the incredible work being done by our project team.

As guests made their way through our welcoming green entry arbour, they were immediately greeted by the sultry sounds of musical duo, Emerson and Isaac of Rutherford Entertainment, before entering the world of Fareham.

Discovering Fareham

Fareham has been expertly crafted by the award-winning team at BayleyWard, as an ode to its Bayside location through the incorporation of rich natural textures and colours. Leading the project’s exterior and interior design is BayleyWard Director, Nick Readett-Bayley who was on-site for our launch, providing guests with an insight look into the project’s design inspiration and processes.

“A large majority of the apartments [at Fareham] get a great view of the ocean, which is one of the key things I think about when I think of St Kilda,”

“There are a lot of other areas in the building beyond the apartments that are offered as part of the project’s approach to communal space including various pockets of greenspace,”

These areas include areas at the top of the building that take advantage of the [far reaching] views of the ocean and city”

In complement to its design, we have once again enlisted the services of Melbourne-based sustainability consultants, HIP V. HYPE, who have been an integral collaborator for our South Melbourne project, The Canopy on Normanby.

Utilising their extensive experience, Fareham will be incorporating a number of PassivHaus principles that will see the project rely on 100% renewable energy and feature rooftop solar, sustainable materials and an energy recovery ventilation system (ERV). Combining all of these elements, Fareham will be targeting a 7.5 NAThers rating as part of our commitment to sustainable practice.

HIP V. HYPE’s Head of Better Buildings and Director of Sustainability, David Mahony, was also in attendance at our launch, following on from Nick Readett-Bayley’s talk to inform our guests of the incredible sustainability innovations being implemented at Fareham.

Not only will these assist residents to reduce their overall living costs but will also contribute to it being an incredible and sustainable place to call home.

“This project is really focused on the passive design elements, really embedding in both energy efficiency and healthy environments from the outset. Ultimately what we are trying to achieve here [at Fareham] are energy efficient, thermally comfortable and healthy living environments.”

“We’ve done this in a number of ways, [but] primarily [we are] looking at the building facade and making sure that is performing as well it can. Utilising thermally broken, double glazed windows that are well sized allow for an ample amount of natural daylight but also manage the amount of heat gain that comes into apartments,”

“This means lower energy for heating and cooling and thermally comfortable environments that benefit the health and wellbeing of residents.”

Embracing the St Kilda Lifestyle

For our recent launch, we wanted to showcase some of the incredible local eateries that surround our display suite, and who we are lucky to call neighbours. The incomparable patisserie, Black Star Pastry, provided our guests with a mouth-watering array of croissants, quiche and cakes alongside some freshly made iced tea and mint soda, direct from their café next door.

At Gamuda Land, we also know the importance that our residents place on every member of the family, including the furry kind. All of our display suites remain entirely pet-friendly, and we were fortunate to partner with our neighbours at Al Naturale, to provide free puppucinos throughout the event.

We are extremely fortunate to be surrounded by these incredible local offerings so that we can offer our guests the best of St Kilda, and an array of treats that reflect the lifestyle they can expect when living at Fareham.

We’d like to thank everyone who helped us to celebrate our launch, and to the local St Kilda community for embracing us so warmly – we are excited to share project updates in the coming months as we progress through the next stages.
